Bock The Robber

Don’t get me started

Posted on Wednesday, April 5, 2006

In Dublin, an entirely blameless Lithuanian man died when he attempted to stop four people siphoning diesel from his truck. He was an honest man, well-regarded in the transport business, who was working hard to support his family. His coat got caught in the door of the thieves’ van when they drove away, and he was dragged for about 100 metres. He died shortly afterwards. Evidently, the thieves had a Hi-Ace van full of 30-gallon barrels and some arrangement for transferring fuel into them from parked trucks. According to the media, these admirable fellows are members of the Travelling Community, which, of course, is totally irrelevant. Doesn’t everybody go around with vans full of empty oil-drums, and lengths of siphon-hose? Or perhaps it’s an inalienable part of their culture?
