During a recent covert operation in Istria, I managed to take a few pictures of doorways and other things.

Here are some of the doorways. I’ll show you the other things in another post.

If you’re on a dial-up connection, this post won’t suit you.

  1.

Fantastic pictures. The subject reminds me of that poster everyone had in the 80s, the Doors of Dublin.

  2.

They’re gorgeous. Where’s Istria? (Too lazy to click away and google…..)

  3.

Great theme for pictures, I am a big fan of Door and windows, there is a very good painter here that specialises in Windows and window frames and shutters.

By the way your snap shot enabled site keeps kicking me out of the internet every time i scroll across a link. Do you have any idea why ?

  4.

Thought you might have slipped a little shot of Ray Manzarek, but y’know, whatever…

    Nice work, even so.

  5.

Ellie: Hmmm. Maybe I’ll make a poster of it.

    Aisling: Where’s Istria? Now there’s a question.

Macdara: That Snap thing is pissing me off too. It won’t uninstall for me. I have to use a sledgehammer approach. Sorry if it’s interfering with your connection to the tinkernet but I have no idea why that should be.

Mr A Minute: I would have, except I have no imagination.

  6.

gorgeous shots, sugar…reminds me of a time overseas in an undisclosed location … old doors, crumbling walls and nothing but desert around us… and then there’s paris…i need to find that door for you

I am very concerned with your fixation with apertures. Some open, some closed, some guarded, all different colours. Is it a way forward? Is it a way back? who knows, who can tell. I thought that was my gig.

  8.

Smashing. I envy you. All I can do is point and click, and they generally turn out less than mediocre. If I take a good one it’s an accident. :)

  9.

Excellent pics Bock. I’ve always had a penchant for the quaint and ordinary myself. Well captured.

  10.

Alright, so now you have gone from interntional man of mystery to Bosco, ( knock knock open wide see what’s on the other side).

I just love those photos. I love taking door photos too!!

I was thinking, you could load your washing machine into the boot of your car and put a nice red ribbon around it and drive around for about 10 minutes with the boot open and you can be sure when you arrive home the washing machine will mysteriously have vanished!!

  12.

A fantastic bunch of photos, Mister Bock. The Problem Husband and meeself went on a door-picture-taking campaign of our honeymoon in Rome but without nearl7y the success you’ve had. Beautiful!

  13.

Love them. I have a thing for windows myself!

  14.

    nice collection!

  15.

    Bock, Love the pics.

fantastic shots Bock, Was there many moons ago in the former Yougoslavia, days of Tito, not a great place then, drove down the coast road first time, my brakes went on fire coming into lublijana, pulled into a small garage where the mechanic opened the bonnet, fucked a bucket of water over the engine and basically told me to piss off, a thousand kms of hairpin bends, no guard rails, below littered with crashed trucks and the most breathtaking views ever, Came back the centre road, total kamikazi driving by the locals, never had the gra to return, The nicest kindest people I met there were in Kosovo, such extreme poverty but so generous with what little they had.
I too have a fascination with doorways, hundreds of pic’s, In some way doorways hold such delicious mystery.
