Isn’t it amazing sometimes the way you find yourself surrounded by pirates?

This looks like a Gilbert and Sullivan moment.

And while we’re at it, let’s have Tom Lehrer, if not quite on the same subject, at least in the same vein: The Elements.

More of Tom Lehrer in later posts.

Tom Lehrer was a lyrical genius decades ahead of his time. My personal favourites of his are “Poisoning Pigeons In The Park”, “Oedipus Rex” and “The Masochism Tango”.

Surprised you haven’t spoken of the great Lehrer before. A man brimming with talent and wit that I could only dream of. Scored a copy of ‘An Evening Wasted With…’ on LP recently…

Mr Pagano: I wholeheartedly agree with you. “Poisoning pigeons . . .” was one of the first songs I sang to my young son in his cradle.

WJJ: I did a whole heap of them on the old site, but they got lost during the move.

All I can say about the first clip is, I was young and I needed the money.

    Tom Lehrer - Class.

    Shame…

Have you ever looked into his career as a mathematician?

Of course. But, you know something? I did quite a lot of fairly abstruse mathematics in the course of my life, and although I found it interesting in a nerdy kind of way, it never, ever, not even once, got me laid.

    True…

    There’s no glamour in mathematics…

Unless you’re a mathematician who sidelines in porn. I knew a mathetmatician who was constipated once. He had to work it out with a pencil.
