Amazingly that story is on the BBC news site.
You’d think that nothing important is happening in the world.

Hear hear. I’ve been laid up, had Sky News on, and have heard just about nothing else all morning. Christ on a bike.

Britney Spears is the scab on the scuffed knees of popular culture that demands to be picked. She’ll probably top herself this year and then everyone will cry shame. Look away people, look away now.

Didn’t give a shit when she had chart topping songs.

Didn’t give a shit when she got married, then split up, then married someone else, popped some sprogs, then split up again.

Didn’t give a shit when she shaved her head.

Don’t give a shit about this.

This is of course despite the fact that I took the time to type the words “didin’t give a shit” over and over on a blog.

Let’s call it irony shall we.

I think ppl need not worry about Britney being a fool. Maybe the likes of Britney Spears.. or say someone like princess Diana or Marilyn Monroe is to teach us all how to be compassionate to other peoples’ pain and struggles and not be complete haters and judgemental egotists as we all tend to do sometimes and have peace in our hearts before we try harp on about peace in the world. Me for Ms. world.. yaaaah! :)

Dunno, the early songs, while not exactly my bag of sugary pop, were extremely well crafted - I realise that this probably had a whole lot more to do with Max Martin the songwriter than Ms. Spears. “Hit Me Baby One More Time” was an ear worm if ever there was one. Check out Richard Thompson’s version on his album, “1000 Years of Popular Music). His version of Princes “Kiss” is also killer.

In the end while Brit really shouldn’t be headline news, a little compassion wouldn’t go astray, our ire should be saved for her parents and the industry that created her. She obviously has mental health issues, difficult enough for the private citizen, impossible for the famous.

I find it hard to be compassionate about someone who has a lot more than most people and still manages to fuck up everything they touch. It’s difficult to do that much damage to that many people without making a concentrated effort. A homeless person with no fame or fortune taking drugs, losing custody of their children and making a complete fool of themselves is called a junkie waster, Britney Spears is called a misguided pawn of the industry, equipped with mental problems to excuse her behaviour.

But of course, I’m a 24 year old mother of two happy and healthy children with no fame or wealth, perhaps I’m just a jealous hater?

I’m just glad my daughter is too young to have that as her role model. Before and after the wierdness.

Blame the scumbag parents I say. Bunch of trailerparktrashgoodfornothings. I’m sure Amy Bingehouse is mighty relieved that Britters has grabbed the headlines for a while and taken the heat off…I think the whole thing is really tragic despite fame fortune etc. And I don’t really understand why the press seem to think anyone would be interested when stuff like this happens to normal non-famous families every day with often far more tragic consequences.

Yes you could blame the parents, blame the press, blame Britney if you want to.
Maybe all that kids need, that money of course can’t provide is to be able to love, to have the ability to forgive and know compassion.
That without a certain awareness you cannot understand what ppl really are intent on. (i.e. It’s difficult to do that much damage to that many people without making a concentrated effort). what are you concentrated on and what is your intent? So no, of course you are not a jealous hater, at least I don’t think you intend to be and even with our huge imperfections people for the most part I believe love their kids more than anything, including Britney Spears, including her parents, just like you.

So if your kids take issue with all your shortcomings -as we all have, maybe they too will find it hard to be compassionate to you as you set your example.

If its been said, father forgive them for they know not what they do. Cognitively speaking,it would appear people know what they do but are they aware of a connection you could call compassion, a bond, between yourself and everything else (ppl, creatures etc- in any country ).
Even in the face of abject cruelty a miracle can happen. what an example.

    (And I know ugliness,
Now show me something pretty.) Something pretty… Patrick Park. Nice song.

Re: Audrey - yes - I agree - being a mother I can empathise despite the nonsense media. If, for whatever reason I was faced with losing my son I can imagine being that desperate that I would contemplate doing something stupid rather than risk losing him forever. Although I can’t quite imagine being that off my head as to be so out of control to be honest!

Bock - the reason titney makes the news so often is that she has what everyone professes to want, money and two beautiful children, and yet she fritters it away like she hasn’t a care in the world.

And on a personal level, I can’t understand why someone would be such a whoring twat when there are children involved.

I think I put on the judgemental hat this morning by mistake.
