Andrew Hanlon — Getting to the Truth Little By Little

Posted on Monday, July 21, 2008

This story is full of holes.

There are things about it that I just can’t make sense of, and I think it’s going to take a lot of teasing out before we get to the truth of what happened.

What led up to the point where Gonzales caught and killed Andrew?  How did events conspire to bring the two of them together?  How did Andrew end up at the house from which he was supposedly chased down the hill?  (I’m going to call this House A).

There are certain things we know, and certain things we can only surmise, so what I intend to do with this post is keep updating it as more information comes to hand.

I’m just going to throw out questions about the things that bother me and the things I don’t understand yet.  If anyone can throw light on them, I’ll include the answer here and we’ll try to build up a picture.

Here are some questions:

  • Where did Andrew usually sleep?
  • Did he go there on the 30th June?
  • Who was there?
  • What prevented him from staying?
  • What time did he leave?
  • Where did he go next?
  • Who did he meet?
  • What time did Andrew start to walk North-East along Oak Street?
  • Was he alone?
  • How familiar was he with the area?
  • Where did he go?
  • What time did Gonzales mobilise to answer the reported burglary call?
  • Was Gonzales alone?
  • Did Gonzales know Andrew?
  • Was there more than one call to the police?
  • Who called the police?
  • Is there a record of the calls in the police control room?
  • Are there recordings of the calls?
  • What time did Andrew arrive at House A?
  • Did anybody in the area hear a commotion before Andrew knocked at House A?
  • Did the occupants of House A know Andrew?
  • Did the occupants of House A know Gonzales?
  • Are there any police security cameras along Oak Street?
  • Did any of the houses along Oak Street have security cameras?
  • Did more than one person shoot at Andrew?
  • Did the police preserve the scene of Andrew’s death for forensic investigation?
  • Did anyone interfere with Andrew’s body before either the medical examiner or forensic investigators arrived?
  • If so, who interfered with the body?
  • How long did it take for the medical examiner to arrive?

I think these are some, but not all, of the questions that need to be answered and I suppose we’ll just have to keep looking for answers until we’re able to build up a precise chronology of events.  Once we have the main points, I’ll prepare another map for illustration.

I can only provide an answer to the first question. On one of Oregon media outlets I viewed a short video interview conducted with his (American) flat mate who claimed that he put up Andrew in his small flat after his visa had expired (www.katu.com if I recall correctly).

This young man described AJ as a very friendly guy fellow that greeted strangers in the street and who was sometimes a little over-anxious and moody. On the (fateful) day he left, this chap said AJ was a bit uncommunicative as he left the apartment.

Right now, I am wondering about one thing. Why, oh why are we getting no information, If AJ was packing a piece we would, I’m very sure know all about it by now… but we are been told nothing by US authorities. Three weeks now and the longer it goes on like this the worse the smell will become.

    AJ was unarmed.

Do you have a link to the video?

I wish I could provide the link Bock but having spent a good while searching for it, I can only assume that it has now fallen under the radar (it was up there two weeks ago). I do however stand over it’s existence and the content that I have outlined above.

    “Who called the police?”

There are two audio clips of 911 calls apparently about AJ here:

    Nora —

What I’m really asking is whether there was only one caller.
