Pulp Fiction

Posted on Monday, July 14, 2008

I’m watching Pulp Fiction on the television, though I don’t know why.  After all, I have the DVD and I can watch it any time I like, but I still can’t turn my head away when it comes on the TV.

Why is that?  Why?

Is Pulp Fiction possibly the funniest movie ever made?

I  think it might well be a candidate for the funniest picture that anybody has ever made, and I think Tarantino might well be a candidate for the funniest human being who ever lived.

Of course, Samuel L Jackson has to come there in second place, as the second funniest human being who ever lived.  That would put John Travolta in third, and Harvey Keitel as The Wolf in fourth.  That leaves Ving Rhames (Marcellus) as the fifth funniest human being who ever lived.

Favourite character?  Jules.  I like Jules, the cold-blooded motherfucker. I like him.

Hamburgers! The cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast!

    Funniest movie ever made…
Probably not but a great one all the same. The first american movie that stretched the audience, assumed a bit of grey matter and asked them to use it.
Funny - yes. But the sum of its parts. Your argument is like saying that, for instance, the Beatles were the best band in the world therefore ringo was the best drummer in the world and Paul etc etc.

    Long story short. I disagree.

Ringo wasn’t even the best drummer in the Beatles.

Or, to put all drummers down, Ringo wasn’t even a drummer!

    Drummist, eh…

There’s a passage I got memorised, seems appropriate for this situation: Ezekial 25:17. “The path of the rightenous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengence and furious anger those who attempt to poisen and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the lord when I lay my vengence upon you…”

    Or whatever…

Wow… funny does not come to mind when I think Pulp Fiction. Parts of it, yeah, funny, but overall, nope. Besides everyone knows the funniest and best movie ever made is The Big Lebowski c’mon Bock! :)

You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know, maybe it’s me. I’m a little fucked up maybe, but it’s funny how? Funny like it amuses you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How is it funny?

It’s clever, like ‘What’s Opera, Doc?’ is clever. Clever funny. Not funny funny.
