I Offer Thanks To My Friends

Posted on Monday, September 8, 2008

We had a gigantic party at the weekend, attended by perhaps 120 people.

We set up a bar, with beer on tap.

We had gazebos, and fire baskets and barbecues.

We had music everywhere.

People played songs and people sang and people talked and people cried and people laughed.

We had old friends meeting up after years and new friends meeting other new friends.

We had food and laughter and friendship and music and drunkenness and being silly.  And more silliness.  And a bit more.

We had peace and conciliation and reconciliation and leaving your baggage at the door and coming in unburdened, welcome.

We had a fine night of good people, to whom I am grateful, each and every one, for coming to my home and making it such a special event.  I’ve spoken to many of them already, but if you were there, and if I happened to forget you, I’m sorry, and I’m grateful.

Thank you for coming last night and helping to create a unique and treasured experience for all of us.  We’ll do it again, and this is no idle threat.

sounds like a good time…laughter, friendship, music, beer.
…wished I lived closer, I’d love to ‘crash’ the party…but don’t worry, I’d bring food and beverages to make up for it! :)

Bock - that was some party right enough. ‘Eclectic’ doesn’t go nearly far enough to describe your vast array of incredible diverse and interesting friends. Your guitar-playing buddies are awesome, as is the chap who plays harmonica. I bet there was a queue of neighbours at your door all day yesterday to thank you for the authentic renderings of Pink Floyd at 3.30 am. The grub was terrific, and the braziers out the back were unique.
    Roll on the next one.

Sounds fun. Was it a special occasion or just a good ole whoop-it-up for good ole whoop-it-up’s sake?

It was for a not-very-significant birthday.

To put it another way, any excuse will do.

It had everything a good night out should have. Spent the evening talking to people I hadn’t seen in ages while drinking good wine and eating good food. Life is tough!
Unfortunately, missed the live music, as I had to leave early ’cause I had a bare-knuckle boxing match the following morning.
Thank you Bock for the time and effort you put in. A lovely night out!

I’m crushed that I couldn’t make it. I had loads of hookers and cocaine ready and all.
