Connacht 19 - Leinster 18

Posted on Monday, October 6, 2008

Ah look.  I wouldn’t dream of laughing at Leinster.  Certainly not.

I didn’t laugh at Leinster last week when Munster beat them by 18 points to NIL, and I’m not going to laugh at them today, just because the weakest team in the entire Magners League beat them again. After all, they only lost by a single point, which is no disgrace.

No disgrace at all that Leinster, the repository for the other half of Ireland’s international talent, were beaten by a team with absolutely no hope of winning the league because they’re so bad.

No.  Certainly not.  Leinster were unlucky and that’s how it goes, even if they were beaten by a shite team.  Fuck, they’re entitled to an off day.

So look, here’s what I say.  Tough luck guys.  Have a couple of Kens in Kielys and move on.

Tomorrow is another day, so Go Leinster!!

Loike, Helloooooooo, being forced to wear white tops with a blue trim in Gaul-wey is soooooooo last season. The total im-borismint of it must hove put the Goys off their usual superbness and loike running and …whatever.

And Oi believe the loike, dressing rooms, yah! a total ‘mare…I mean no conditioner in the showers and having to drink cold water from a tap…OMG !!! Barbaric. Haven’t these people even hurd of hair-strighteners or compact sets? Why poor Plug Cullen was practically naked in the second half without her moisturiser. Any wonder she was so upset when those terrible West of Ireland people scored a try, half the goys eyelashes were hanging off due to absence of mirrors in what they called the dressing room.

And didn’t Les Dames do well to get loike a Bonus Point (is that of Heino or something one presumes), I mean hellloooo… considering Briano and some of the other girls couldn’t make it to Gaul-wey due to the game clashing with the BT2 Fashionista Show hosting by the lovely Twink - she’s soooooo witty, its a murvell-us achievement, roysh. I mean they could at least have fixed it for Race Week or the Oyster Festival and absolutely EVERYONE would have been there, dahlings.

    All together now girls.. “Lon-stir…Lon-stir”

@Galwegian, I thought Ulster were considering their position in the ML?. To save money on players travelling expenses, they’re moving the entire shop to South Africa.
PS well done, made the week-end.

there is another unfancied team in green coming to Limerick on Friday, with nothing to loose. Lets hope we don’t fall at the first hurdle.
Mind you I did smirk a bit at the full time whistle and we wont mention 15 against 14 for the second half.

It wouldn’t do to underestimate the opposition. Isn’t that what Leinster did yesterday?

And yes, the 15-14 situation was amazing, but I’ve often noticed that a team with an extra man can become confused.

That sportsground place. It’s a total misery.
You need your shit together to get a result. And they have Seany Cronin too. Who Munster should never have left go, and who need him very now.

The boys from the West can do that to anyone with ideas about themselves.

    That said…………., hilarious!

True Sniffle, we had a few “3-0 classics” up there not so long ago, and it can be an awful hole when the weather is crap tbh. Place is so open its exposed to every drop of rain coming in off the coast. Surprised Connacht haven’t considered moving operations to Athlone, the Buccs facility is far more suited to rugby and, last night aside, they rarely attract more than a few hundred die-hards to the Sportsgrounds.

As for the other team in green due in Thomond on friday. Their away from so far in the French League suggests there’s a bit of the Casey Clan about them (bad travellers).
On Saturday Stade Francais beat them 34-16 and Montpelier hammered them lately away from home. They seem much more effective at home having beaten Castres and Borguoin although Toulouse bucked that trend lately -putting 40pts on them in Montauban.

Don’t think there will be any complacency about Munster on Friday regardless, but that Connacht win should serve as a timely reminder not to.

    Fair nuff Hoof,

And our lads have that habit, that bad habit of waiting for someone else to do it. But they’re brilliant right now, a joy to behold.
We’re lucky you know, this class of a team is unique.

Last night was perhaps the greatest Connacht win of the professional era. Playing against a Leinster team who, apart from an absent and out of form BO’D, were at full strenght and have a playing budget of at least ten times that of ours with only 14 men for 47 minutes if you include the 10 mins Mike spent in the bin in the first half! That result is two fingers to the likes of Neill Frances and the IRFU blazers who wanted to disband Connacht a few years ago.
As for some of the patronising comments above: “and it can be an awful hole when the weather is crap tbh. Place is so open its exposed to every drop of rain coming in off the coast. Surprised Connacht haven’t considered moving operations to Athlone, the Buccs facility is far more suited to rugby and, last night aside, they rarely attract more than a few hundred die-hards to the Sportsgrounds.” …………last nights win was achieved in perfect conditions, evening sunshine and not a puff of wind in front of a crowd of about 4,000. I doubt very much that Dubarry pk in Athlone would be a better venue for Connacht’s games as their main fan base comes from Galway city and Surrounds. - And to those two geographically confused Munster fans who i met in the pub last night - who wondered why we were singing their song - “The Fields of Athenry” at the end, i hope you found a map today! lol! ……..ye can borrow it, but it’s ours!
