It's hard to feel confident about this, so I think I'll head into town and watch the game among a crowd.  I reckon we'll be lucky to come away with a single bonus point, but who knows?  Maybe the lads will have recovered from the delusion that they're actually a touring All Blacks team, and maybe they'll dig in instead of trying to put on an exhibition. like last week.

Maybe they'll have learned a lesson from last week, and perhaps they'll actually try to win from the start.

Time will tell.  Back later.

UPDATE

Sale Sharks 16 — Munster 24

Well?  What about that?  We won.

It just goes to show how much I know about anything.

It was classic Munster, full of grit, skill and determination, with a good dash of cunning and a lot of balls.  Sale were a professional outfit, and you'd have to wonder what would have happened if Charlie Hodgson was on from the start.  But he wasn't, so there you go.

A good solid result, but with a bit of homework to do later.  The finishing let us down a couple of times and we should have had at least two more tries, but I suppose you could say the same thing for Sale.

One way or another, we'll be happy to come away from there with a win.  Very happy indeed.

  1.

I am surprised with the win. After last weeks performances from both sides, the result is indicative of just how good munster really are.

  2.

    I'm surprised too. I didn't expect a win.

Not surprised at all.Montauban woke Munster up.O gara's penalty was there but the ref didn't allow it.As you say, grit skill determination etc.A good result indeed.

Some match. Some win. Some team !

How they can raise their game when the odds are against them says a lot for the spirit of Munster. But fuck me, I hate when they go out expecting to roll over some teams. That Montauban experience wasn't the first time we were crapping ourselves against "inferior" oppostion, two European Cup matches at TP in recent seasons against Neath and more recently Bourgoin spring to mind. Shake that complacency out of them and they're unbeatable.

It was the heart beating the head for me too yesterday. I was expecting a close game. Hoping O'Gara had the good boots on and praying for a one-point win but expecting a loss with the consolation of a bonus point. In the end another vintage performance.

You did well to deny them a losing bonus as well.

    Well done.

In fairness Bock I think the only reason the boys were trying to put on a show was to match the occasion for the supporters, I dont think it was to do with ego. I also think it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, a kick up the arse delivered at the perfect time. I doubt they would have performed so well at Sale if they had beaten Montauban by 10 or 15 points.

  7.

But I never said it was to do with ego!
