UN Stops Supplies After Israel Shells Aid Convoy
Jan 8th, 2009 | By Bock | Category: Politics, World, warUNWRA has suspended all aid operations inside Gaza after Israel shelled one of its convoys and killed two drivers.
No doubt they thought it was a terrorist food convoy, carrying terrorist food and terrorist water to terrorist children. Perhaps terrorists were running along beside the trucks, hiding from the Israeli tanks and maybe even shouting terrorist slogans.
I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the Israeli military finds these deaths regrettable but unavoidable. After all, UN food convoy or not, you can’t be too careful. For all we know, the UN might well be a terrorist organisation too, and anyway, the food was only going to feed the Palestinian untermenschen, not humans.
The UN? Miserable bunch of Arab-lovers. Bomb them!

well BOCK, the UN as an entity are basically ineffectual so what threat could they possibly pose to the israelis! none; i reckon.
Were the trucks in the convey camouflaged in white with extremely large blue lettering on them perchance?Very difficult to distinguish from a rocket launcher.
The UN will do anything not to assist in horrible world situations…just like they failed in Burma, Zimbabwe, Darfur, Rwanda, Tibet, etc. They should disband from their posh premises in New York, sell it & give the proceeds to the poorest of the poor & then just disappear into thin air, never to be seen again. For they are as useless as fruitless…in this world of despair!
Great analysis there, Jaker. It’s the UN’s fault, not the people who fired on them. Clever. I missed that.
eh? according to wonderful Amer. news, or I was in a haze after a 12 hr shift and a baby almost dying, that it was Hamas that broke the cease-fire, and caused the Aid workers casualties…?
@HisGirlFriday, not sure how true that is. Besides, even if Hamas did break the ceasefire, surely there were parts of Gaza available to shoot at that /weren’t/ UN aid workers at that exact moment (with their big UN markers proclaiming “we are the UN, do not shoot at us”)…
jaker; I wonder what great humanitarian deeds you are commited to, from your elevated view ?
The U.N. have now passed a resolution calling for immediate ceasefire. The U.S. abstained.
No aid delivered yesterday.
Half a million people without water.
The death toll stands at 778. 258 of the dead are CHILDREN. 57 women.
The West Bank is sealed off.
Men under 45 are not allowed to attend prayers in Al Aqsa mosque.
To any sane person who thinks this is a war of defense, who thinks it has anything to do with religion, politics or history….This war is about hatred and the resolute ideology of dominant people within the Israeli government to emulate and carry through the policy of their own persecutors, the Nazis, their one true aim to exterminate the Palestinians as a people.
The people engaged in these atrocoties are a lawless, vicious vile form of humanity.
Any effort I made as an individual to maintain equilibrium regarding this has vanished, my own personal feelings of horror has changed my views forever.
As someone who, in 1968, cheered the Israelis on as they chased the Egyptian tanks out into the Sinai desert I am utterly appalled at the inhumanity of the attacks on the innocent opeople of Gaza as I was 2 years ago in Lebanon. Back then little Israel was up against the might of the Arab nations surrounding it.
Now the shoe is on the other foot and the Arab nations have been immasculated and bought off by the US and are afraid to criticise the Israeli crimes.
The UN is powerless to help because the vetos of the permanent membership tie its hands on each and every world conflict whether it’s the Russians, the US/UK or China and we know that the current US government will back Israel to the hilt on anything they do. Methinks the tail doth wag the dog.
I had a feeling that this would happen. The offer to allow aid in was nothing but a propaganda ploy to reduce world outrage over the UN school massacre,in reality they had no intention of ever allowing it to happen. And todays news Palestinians herded into a house to be slaughtered. The world needs to wake up to the fact that with the Zionists they are not dealing with a democratic nation but with the best armed gangster gang on earth. And anybody who believes anything these mobsters say needs to get a serious reality check.
Don’t forget that Israel Electric Corporation workers have worked to supply Gazans with electricity under heavy rocket fire.
Hamas has also fired mortars at Israeli soldiers accompanying aid vehicles in the past, as well as attacking supply convoys from Israel.
In fact, Hamas has earned criticism from the Palestinians themselves for shutting down Gaza’s electricity and blaming it on Israel.
Oh maybe it is Hamas that is driving the merkava tanks and flying the apaches as well.
Not only that, but it was also Hamas who stopped the replacement parts for the Gaza power station at the Israeli port of Ashdod.
And it was Hamas who ordered Israeli customs not to let the parts leave the port.
And it was Hamas who prevented diesel supplies for the power station from getting through to Gaza.
Not only that, but it was Hamas who originally kicked the people out of their homes and forced them to live in the Gaza slum.
What a crowd of bastards Hamas are.
Oh wait …
Oh, by the way, UN sources are now claiming they do not know exactly which way the truck was heading at the time, and whether it was tank shells or Hamas that did the damage, despite all the news reports instantly blaming Israel.
I wonder will there be an apology for this one? Maybe buried on page 21 of Wednesday’s Guardian supplement? I certainly don’t expect it from anyone here.
the systemworks; why in oct 2008 did Ehud Barak request from his cabinet that it “was now time to start disrupting the electricity supply to Gaza”
just a bit curious, given this was during the ceasefire ?

What are these UN sources? I could not find any information to substanciate what you have said. Could you please post some links to articles or something.
On Friday, the Jerusalem Post reported that contrary to foreign press reports, it was not certain that an IDF tank shell hit the aid truck, and that in all probability, the aid workers were hit by Hamas gunfire.
The foreign press reports were based on UN sources, who later admitted to the Post that they were not sure in which direction the truck was headed when it was hit, and could also not say with certainty that tank shells were responsible:

Haaretz carried the story as well.
As Israel happens to be the only real democracy in the region with a fully free press, I tend to trust the papers.
Thesystemworks —
No problem. I’ll make you an offer.
If Israel didn’t attack the convoy, I’ll apologise for misreporting, on condition that Israel apologises for murdering 900 people.
That seems fair, doesn’t it?
However, before we do any of that, I’d ask you to provide an independent source for your information. Not the Israeli military.
That seems fair too, doesn’t it?
Those articles are very vague. They assert it was not the IDF who attacked the convoy but base this on IDF staements.
Palestine was a real democracy too, but Israel, Europe and the US refused to accept their democratic choice, distasteful as it was.
The press of the entire world is in the region, yet you take the Israeli press to be the only objective on. Strange..
Both newspaper reports are based on Israeli military statements.
- Did you murder the driver?
- Oh God no!
- Right. Thanks.
I’m a bit disappointed at the standard of Israeli spin reaching this site. Obviously they don’t take Bock very seriously, and it’s hard to blame them really. After all, this is only an obscure Irish rant, but I’d prefer if they’d ignore me completely instead of putting their Youth Wing on the job. It’s tedious.
Maybe they’re trying to grind me down through boredom.
It’s not actually my practice to post comments, but I thought I would say that this was outstanding.

Mossad and Co. are very good at propaganda. Bock you should , in my opinion have slapped them and their supporters down a long time ago. The site is far from “obscure” you post to the World and they know that . The reason they chose to post in various names is because you allow discussion. Other sites do or perhaps can not.
