Who By Fire — A Song For Israel and Gaza
Jan 10th, 2009 | By Bock | Category: Music, World, warIn these terrible times, as Israel forgets its soul and rises up to murder the weak and the poor, I offer you the kindest and most civilised of men, Leonard Cohen, with his interpretation of an ancient Jewish prayer.
Who By Fire

One of my fave’s, Bock. I’ve never heard this version but the blonde woman at the back is called Julie Christenson and I’ve had a few drinks with her a few nights. She lives in Ojai and sings a fair bit locally. Nice woman. A good woman to worship at the altar of Lenny with!
Jesus, Sami! What a convoluted circularity of interconnectedness we inhabit. Will you please say hello to Julie for me?
Sir, you’ve been inspired…
I’ve been listening to Lenny’s song all week, with tears streaming down for both sides. So much hurt, so many deaths. “Who shall I say is calling…”
When I first heard “Who by fire” in Montreal, it was him alone, in his black suit, on an unadorned stage. It was so moving… When he finished, the young audience could hardly breathe. It took nearly a minute before the burst of applause. We were all standing up, and we couldn’t stop.
Many thanks.
thanks bock.
brilliant, very moving, and may I say you too are very kind for taking the time to bring us such magic.
