Bashir or Baltar?

Mar 3rd, 2009 | By Bock | Category: television

I thought that Dr Bashir from Deep Space 9 was the same actor who plays Dr Gaius Baltar in Battlestar Galactica, but I just found out they’re not.

Was I stupid or do they look identical?  Come on –  gimme a break.  What are the odds against two identical fictional characters both being doctors on improbable space-ships?  What the fuck are the chances?

Fuck, I thought they were the same guy. Obviously, this Cylon technology is better than I realised.

  1. Very similar all right, I did wonder if they were related. You left out that surnames both have 2 syllables, 6 letters and begin with B and end with r.
They’re both really annoying characters as well.

  2. Clearly BOCK; you have issues!!

  3. Bock,
tis not a shame to be needing spectacles in yer auld age… ;)

  4. Sure they look similar, but I never thought they were the same actor. BTW there is actually a Dr. Julian Bashir in Ireland.

  5. Baltar will be the cornerstone in saving the fleet I think. At least he has some ambition (and the good sense to get hot hippy birds to make a love god out of him).

Bashir was an ideologic no one.

  6. Baltar’s the gay guy from the Bridget Jones movies
Bashir’s the badass from Kingdom of Heaven

  7. Hang on, Baltar’s the gay mate in ‘Bridget Jones’? I thought that was Bashir. See, I was pretty sure I could tell the difference.

Bashir was Hannibal too, for the BBC, when he was flirting with being slightly rugged, rather than mildly effete.

  8. Green Ink — You put your finger on it. What they have in common is that I want to smash my fist into both their faces.

Unstranger — I’m glad to say that I know who my issues are.

HGF — It’s not a spectacular matter. It’s one of interpretation. These men are indistinguishable.

GrowUp — We’ll have to differ on that. I can’t tell them apart.

Dr Orgasm — That’s one of the reasons I hate Baltar so much. Bastard.

    Huron — Perhaps. Perhaps not.

Gargoyle — See? See? No-one can tell the difference.

  9. simon McCorkendale and michael york I used to always get mixed up and yes those two men you mentioned look identical.
