Elegant Wine

Let’s see now, I muttered. Â Should I try a fruity Chateau Paint-Stripper 2008, or maybe the more full-bodied Grand Vin du Pesticide?
I wouldn’t touch ‘em with a forty-foot cattle-prod, said a voice behind me.
What the – ? Â It was, of all people, Tom the Elegant Vintner.
Fancy meeting you as I choose from a selection of bottled defoliants, rat poisons and emetics, I mumbled awkwardly. Â It’s not for me. Â It’s for my friend.
Don’t be like that, said Elegant Tom. Â But perhaps you’d prefer to enjoy the real thing?
As ever, I agreed.
Well, in that case, said Elegant Tom, follow me to the elegant motor.
So I did, and he produced a bottle of this stuff:
Well? Â I said. Â What’s the story?
First class, said Tom. Â Greenhough pinot noir, from New Zealand. Â The Dunraven have it on their menu at the moment. Â Here, why don’t you take a bottle?
All right, I said. Â Thanks.
Will you give me a plug?
Depends, I said. Â I’ll see what the liquor is like.
Fair enough, he said. Â Have another bottle in case you run out.
It’s amazing what you can achieve in a recession.  There’s a lot to be said for this bartering business.  I took the bottles  of wine home with me, and I can tell you, it’s fine.  I liked it.  We all liked it. Well worth a mention.

I’m no wine expert but the Soave, chianti & Pinot Grigio in Aldi are ok. They’re very reasonably priced and drinkable
I had a bottle of Wente zinfandel in the Dunraven lately, and it was magic stuff. Could Elegant Tom produce a drop of that with the same aplomb, not to mention sang-froid? I would be very interested!

Pinot Noir is rapidly catching up with Sauvignon blanc as NZs best known variety. The Greenhough 2006 PN works out at about 11 or 12 Euro here. Not bad for a freebie (or two).
Bock as a shill man? Who’d of seen that coming?
A regular reader would know the answer to your question. This site needs commercial support to continue in existence. You were hoping, perhaps, that I’d devote my life to informing you?
Bock, keep shouting about the Mater/Childrens Hospital/Bertie/Berties boss Sr.Helena and I will not only read ads on this site, I will do my best to buy the products advertised, starting with this wine.
That’s the plan. I’m hoping the site will start to pay for itself, and if I can manage that I’ll be able to add more content.

It seems that Elegant Wines are getting a large number of “hits†the site has collapsed. We have stayed at the Dunraven . It does live up to the add.

Greenhough’s okay, but tell him you want Mount Difficulty, a Central Otago pinot rather than a Nelson one. Good score, though.
I’m well aware of your stated intention to commercialise your blog and more power to you for that, but I assumed you were going to allow ads to be posted for a fee, not become their frontman for a fee. Big difference I think.
Elegant Wines need to have Scotty look at their site. It does not work at the moment.

Bock why not? I liked the link. It may very well be that it is me or my system that is at fault but I seem not to be able to access the site fully .

Show St James Gate (genuflect when Gods house is mentioned) your impressive website stats, give them your address and wait for the crates of black sauce to arrive. Meantime, remember that guy that walked into St James Gate in 2007 and drove off with a truck full of the liquid poetry, thousands of pints rumbling merrily,merrily merrily down the M8. Was he ever caught? Has anyone got his autograph – can you buy any posters of him anywhere?
Bock sorry to bother you again. Could you tell Elegant Wines that their site does not work? My usual tipple is Chateau Lynch -Bages. I can not find it on the site . I can not contact the site.
