Pool 5 looks like a right pool of death. Amazing munster aren’t in it. It’ll be interesting to see how they get on without the “do or die” incentive that membership of the pool of death brings.
You’re right. Pool 5 is a tough one. Amazing Munster isn’t in it.
One of life’s great mysteries alright, akin to why Trappatoni still can’t speak proper English and sounds like someone auditioning for a part in the Sopranos whilst being on 2 million balloons a year as Irish boss.
But then again Robbie Keane can’t speak proper English either and it never did him any harm.
I reckon that Munster will fly through the group – and if we meet that shower from the east coast
in the last four we want them down here in Limerick this time.
The home town, neutral venue rule is all very well. But why has it always to be in their home town
and at their neutral venues’.
Oh yes…easy out of group..Perpignan not that interested in Europe..will be interesting to see who replaces Carter…Let’s hope we get a chance to get the lady boys out of the way early too..a season of atonement ahead to make up for 80 shite minutes, they’re fucked without Elsom in the pack..in fairness he was the best player in the northern hemisphere last season bar none but time for the goys in the doobs to be put back in their place… The chip is firmly back on the shoulder of munster rugby. The double next season…why the hell not!!
Pool Five is a killer. Thank fuck we’ve been spared the Group of Death this time.
Saw Perpignan win the French title on Saturday, impressed by their second half performance as Clermont caved in having dominated the first half. Their first win in 54 years so don’t be surprised if they go hell for leather to add on another Top14 and pay the price for it by sending second string sides to the European Cup away games (at home they wouldn’t dare!). Not sure if Carter is finished with them though. He was in Paris last weekend and despite the injury -in fairness – stayed with the Catalans throughout the campaign so has earned a lot of respect. While the New Zealand Union are strict about players who want to play in Rugby World Cup 2011 to be home based, I’d imagine Carter feels at least honour bound to give some game time to Perpignan and may yet strike a deal to play at least the first half of the season with them. He’s a big enough fish and the NZRFU might yet accede if he asks to give more time to Perpignan. Think a precedent has been set with Chris Jack already (iirc).
I’d say they’ll cut Carter some slack.
I can’t wait !
I’m still basking in the reflected glory of what happened last time we met !…
Should I, erm, get my coat now ?
You’ll be meeting a different Munster this time, but you’ll have a great weekend in Limerick after you get hammered. We’re always gracious to our defeated guests.
Great teams aren’t made over 80 mins nor by winning just 1 title,it takes years to get to be the best.I also recall Dr.Phil last season saying “the best team is the one that wins a league because you have to do it week in week out”,his words not mine.So anyway, who won the Clonmel cup this time?.We obviously had a complete underperformance in the semi against an excellent Leinster who deserved it over the 80 mins.no argument…… Just one last thing, great teams earn the title of “no1″….so who was the no1 seed for the next campaign?…oh right.
Paulie — I like your style. Give ‘em fuckin nothin’!
It’s a bitterness born out of getting nothing in international representation for the many great players who played in Limerick over the decades. To the detriment of the rest of the country might I add.NOT easy to forget Bock!
Oh for sure. Ger Earls for example.
I’m not knocking your bitterness. I think it’s great.
Saint Russ, – If it was a UeFa Cup tie Munster would have advanced on aggregate 36-31 over the two legs having beat Leinster 30-6 in their own backyard two years ago before going down to a lesser margin of defeat in the re-match.
He isn’t talking about the Leinster game
Ger Earls, case in point….what a player,he ate up everything that came within an inch of him in the killing fields,Them were the days,AIL or Munster cup match on a Saturday,Pres match in Rathuard on a Sunday. How could the Irfu let the underrepresentation of Munster and particularly Limerick based players continue for so long to,as I said the detriment of the national team. How long were the other provinces waiting to get their hands on the AIL?I guess it makes Munster and Limerick rugby what it is,a represenative entity unto itself,I suppose it’s like our government, jobs for the boys……or Goys in this particular case.

2010 is going to be Munster’s year.
ger earls was a legend but the powers that be fucked him over, too much snobbery in the game for too many years,at least he sees his son making our whole city proud and this must be some small consolation to one of the best players to ever put on a pair of boots.
Does his son make the whole city any prouder than it was of any Limerick man to play for the Lions?
Of course not. Don’t be silly. The man just made a comment about Keith Earls.
Who’s being silly. Keith Earls has gone on a Lions tour at the age of 21 after a dream first season as a pro. Fantastic for him and his family, and yes Limerick is quite rightly proud of him. Other Limerick men have gone before without the adulation. He has a chance on this tour to become a world star, I hope he does, lets just keep a bit of perspective.
We’re also proud of all the other Limerickmen. Of course we are.
Limerick should’nt be proud for any rugby player to be capped for the Lions, per se. Given Shannonsides contribution to the evolution of the game it is our natural inheritance, like a knight to sit at the round table at Camelot.
NO.8 I think Keith’s adulation is testament to who his dad is,how he was treated in his own career, and of course where Keith has came from….Absolutely nothing wrong with making a big deal out of a good news story out of Moyross as there’s so very very few of them.Keith has the talent and attitude to go on and be one of the best players ever out of this country. When was the last time we produced a world class back in Limerick? It doesn’t take in any way from the achievements or respect to any of the other players in any way whatsoever.Limerick and Munster is equally proud of all of its Lions,it’s just that one of them happens to be a particularly good news story in these depressing times.
I’ve no doubt, both our teams are very different and I hope we string a performance away at your place as our results on the road have been a bit, (how can I put it ?)… shit. Our home form has been exemplary though. Having lost only once at home in the whole of last season and going unbeaten the season before (although that should be seen in the context of National Division 1) we won’t be a pushover when you come visiting, no matter what some may think. If you’re coming, I’m sure that you’ll be able to get a ticket, what with your contacts and all, but if not, let me know.
By the way, when you say hammered, I’m assuming you mean in the pub, no ?
That too.
