Christians Adopt Buddhist Child

Nov 16th, 2009 | By Bock | Category: Religion

Have a look at this link, sent to me by Mr Darwin.

A pair of committed Christians adopted an Asian child, and when they took the child away, local people gave them a small jade charm, something for the child to remember its people by.

To quote the website, the charm was

meant to bring good luck, fortune and protection.  we, however, know that this charm is associated with spiritual forces meant to keep people in bondage.  thus, we smiled and accepted it as we should, and then later went to the park, broke it, and threw it into the pond….

Lovely.

Their post attracted a good deal of criticism and eventually they closed it to  comments.

I then left the following comment on another of their posts:

I love this site.  It’s probably one of the best spoofs I’ve seen.

You manage to strike just the right note of smugness to make it believable without overdoing things.

Beautifully judged!

I didn’t think they’d post it, and I was right.

What they did instead was change my name to Buck, but keep my web address and insert this: I love this site.

So I was right after all.  Not only are they arrogant, expoitative hypocrites.  They’re also fakes.

Committed Christian fakes.

______________

They have now closed all comments, with this explanation:

due to the cruelty shown (via comments and lies posted about us) by a number of anti-orphan/anti-adoption hate groups and some atheists refered from atheist websites, we are sorry to say that the comment option on our site has been suspended.  the written attacks have become personal, judgmental, callous and some have even made threats on our lives.

for the mean people who have visited our site recently - we forgive you for your cruelty. we still maintain that adoption is the loving option and that true love, joy and meaning can only be found in a personal, love relationship with jesus.   jesus loves you.

Pass the sick bucket.

  1. Well, on the one hand they claim to
have the advantage of understanding our host culture’s worldview and their very deep superstitious beliefs. thus, we were not surprised that sterling was given to us with a jade luck charm

Silly superstitious Asians! But wait, on the other hand they

know that this charm is associated with spiritual forces meant to keep people in bondage

So they must destroy it. Silly superstitious Christians! Of course, once again I’m making the classic atheist mistake of appealing to reason. If religious people were reasonable, they wouldn’t be religious.

    He also reminds us that
We don’t deserve God’s forgiveness, but He gives it to us when we humble ourselves (something Atheists seem to struggle with…)

Of course this may be true, if by ‘humbling yourself’ you mean crapping on any foreign culture that doesn’t accept Jesus as its personal saviour–oh, how very Christ-like of you.

Very tempted to believe this is a massive troll site (like Humble Opinion!) but then Poe’s Law may be in effect here.

  2. I’m still not certain if it’s a wind-up or the real thing.

  3. I get the fully payed up follower of JC bit, and I get the adoption bit. What I don’t get is why even as a joke people would not see this as nasty on so many levels.

  4. True. Even as a joke, it’s ugly.

  5. I pity the poor little fucker to have to grow up in that society.
I have reason to know a fair but about Asian Buddhism and it may be a lot of things including self delusional and superstitious but evil it is not. The Buddhists I know are the gentlest people you could come across.

  6. The antics and attitudes of these self-satisfied craw-thumpers (and, unfortunately, many more thousands like them) put my own principles of tolerance and freedom of thought and expression under severe pressure. I hope that, in the unlikely event that their awaited “rapture” should finally come, their LORD will give them the judgement their ignorance so richly deserves … something lingering, with wailing and gnashing of teeth and all that sort of stuff …

  7. I knew a Buddhist what was giving advice to the bollocks that beat our Bernard Dunne. He fucked off out of the place with our WBA belt an all. Down with southpaw Buddhists.

  8. Ah yes Mr. Out I’m inclined to agree with you there. But then he was some operator.
