Just in from the Andreas Appeal:

Andreas Varady is 12 years old, a Jazz guitar prodigy with an unbelievable natural ability.
You may have seen him busking at the market or playing a top class gig with Ireland’s leading contemporary drummer David Lyttle at SpeakeasyJazz in The Rowing Club…

Andreas has been invited to study for two weeks at New York’s  prestigious Skidmore college of music this summer.
This is a fantastic opportunity for Andreas to develop his talent and fine tune his already far advanced skill as a Jazz musician.

To help him achieve his potential, there will  be a benefit, a day of of good food and great music in Nancy Blakes on Sunday May 23rd.

From 3pm Limerick finest Blues Jazz and Funk musicians will take the floor in Nancy Blake’s and stream top quality music while the lovely folks in Nancys dish out a delicious Sunday barbeque.

Andreas of course will play a set or two to showcase his virtuosity, so if you haven’t seen him, make it your business to catch him!

There will be buckets going around for donations .  Give what you can towards this gesture of goodwill to Andreas.

A talent like Andreas doesn’t come along very often and he  deserves to be nurtured and brought to his fullest ability.

Andreas and his family have been in Limerick for 4 years, and he has been amazing us with his superb musicality.

Please, forward this email, tell your friends and come on down to enjoy a crackin day and give a helping hand to Limerick’s own little Django.

A DAY OF JAZZ, BLUES FOOD AND FUN (What Sundays should be anyway!)

  1.

Sounds like a good day out.

The weather is such that lots of people like me will be down the coast this weekend.

  2.

I can personally vouch for this lad – it’s like listening to a 12 year old channeling Django Reinhart!

Go, and you can say in the future, “I saw him play when he was only 12, you know…”.

  3.

I’ll be there, even though Nancy’s can’t pull a decent pint.
