Ten years of Bock the Robber

Ten years of Bock

Who knew this bullshit would last ten years?

Not me, that’s for sure.

Ten years of insane guff.

Ten years  of lunatics, ten years of arguing against quasi-Nazis and religious extremists.

Ten years of great music gigs, great food, great sport and good people buying into the insanity, but I’m not sure if there’s any point in making it eleven years.

This might be a good time to take a pause.

This might be a good time to re-evaluate, but let me thank all who contributed over the years. Your contributions made the site whatever it was.

We’ll talk again in a while and decide where we should go.

Ten years?  Jesus, don’t the years slip by?

  1. No, thank you Bock — late to the party but glad I came. Qué Será Qué Será!

  2. Blog thread discussions can turn into bloody gladiatorial combat. Those of us about to die hail Caesar.

  3. Re-evaluate if you must. But don’t take too long. And don’t you dare to stop writing this blog! It’s the one and only site on Irish social media which keeps me not only entertained but gives me an insight into Irish goings-on I would’nt find elsewhere. Not with your specific angle at least. And not to forget the lively discussions, the controversies and with that the sharpening of the minds of readers and contributors. Thanks for all that.

Enough flattering to keep you going? No? I can ham it up if you don’t come back pronto.

Though I can understand that you need a break. Maybe. A little one. But you’ll get bored after a tiny while…

  4. Please take a break and come back. You provide an invaluable thought-provoking service. You deserve great credit. Thanks to your Auntie (RIP) for setting your curiosity alive. Readers become leaders and that is what you are. You are fearless, decent and above all, a sesquipedalian! That’s meant as a compliment!

  5. “Ten years of great music gigs, great food, great sport and good people buying into the insanity, but I’m not sure if there’s any point in making it eleven years.”

There’s absolutely no point in making it 11… 20 is a nice even number.

Tony Robbins is a good motivational speaker.. You can get lots of his stuff on youtube, if you’re looking for inspiration. At the least, he’ll be a good sleep aid.

Apparently, for motivation you need a mission statement .. or hang on, I think it was a vision.. no, was it a vision and some values? Or a goal. I dunno, I wasn’t really listening.

Hopefully you’ll find your mojo somewhere.

  6. Would you go away with yourself Bock, every time you have an anniversary, you have the usual moment of hand wringing when it comes to continuation of the blog.

How much flattery is required to keep you spewing your thoughts and opinions as per usual?

  7. Are you done yet with re-evaluating?
It’s the sixth day without a new Bock-post and my withdrawal symptons are getting bad. There are so many interesting topics around I would like to read your take on it.
Hell, I would even gladly post a comment on Rugby, even if I have not the faintest interest in it or any other sport, not to mention not having a clue.

I appreciate you have a life apart from blogs, but you have an obligation, too, since you started this ten years ago and built up a loyal and mostly interesting following.

Come back and I’ll give you my personal grandiose recipe for Coq au Vin d’Alsace. And for my most divine Mousse au Chocolat on top of it.

  8. I just wanted to say, thanks for being around, these last 10 years, to tell it how it is. You are a light shining in the darkness. And even though you can be a grumpy aul git, I hope you keep writing. You do it beautifully.

What is it they say about the butterfly clapping its wings? That’s what you’re doing, and long may it continue. We need you. Your country needs you. Hasta la victoria siempre, companero.
